KAYAKING IN BERLIN

Fitness, freedom and floating happiness! Kayaking in Berlin is a sport that feels like all play. Paddling for a few hours on the city’s lakes and canals gives a full-body workout without feeling like a gym session.

The waves on the open water can get surprisingly wild, testing your strength and balance. And then there are those perfect moments of calm. You’re surrounded by nature, gliding across smooth waters while soaking up the sun. Simply being.

The water slows life down. The city looks different from the water. Fellow paddlers greet each other with a smile. Hours of paddling leave you light, happy and completely in the moment, with a grin on your face that will last long after you step back into the city noise.

It is also a great place for solo paddling or to venture out on the water for the first time. The canals are quiet and sheltered as there are no motorboats or sailing yachts. You can do the small loop in less than 2 hours.

As you paddle past meadows, idyllic gardens and pretty little houses, you will spot plenty of wildlife, including herons and beavers. You can also pick blackberries and walnuts along the way, or simply chill with the ducks.

City Tour

If you want to see Berlin from a completely different perspective, paddling around Oberbaumbrücke on the Spree is an unforgettable experience. Gliding quietly along the river while the city buzzes around you is surprisingly peaceful.

This route feels like a sightseeing tour with a paddle. Boats, bridges and city life surround you, yet the steady rhythm of kayaking makes it feel calm and almost meditative. It’s best suited for paddlers with a little experience, as you’ll be sharing the river with other traffic—but the unique views are absolutely worth it.

[Spreewald]

Nature paradise one hour south of Berlin. The area is also famous for gherkins.
