Mindful Hiking

MAUERWEG

The Berlin Wall Trail [Berliner Mauerweg] circles Berlin for about 160 kilometers, following the former border of West Berlin. What was once known as the death zone has become a well-maintained path for hikers and cyclists.

The trail runs through a surprising amount of nature: pine forests, lakes, rivers, wetlands, open fields, and long green corridors between neighborhoods. A nature escape without leaving the city, where you can leave the noise behind and enjoy a clear head along the historic route.

It’s an easy challenge: no mountains, no drama. The route is mostly flat and technically easy, which makes it ideal for long walks, relaxed bike tours, or a multi-day challenge without alpine ambitions.

The trail is divided into 14 stages, all accessible by public transport. You can walk or ride the full loop, or tackle it over several weekends — Berlin style.
