The 66 Lakes Hike [66‑Seen‑Wanderweg] is a 400+ km loop around Berlin and Brandenburg, weaving through forests, meadows, wetlands and more than 66 lakes. The trail offers a mix of quiet lakeshores, shaded woods and open water views, ideal for mindful walking and a swim in the fresh water.

For nature lovers looking for a little challenge, this hike provides a long, multi‑day adventure across diverse landscapes, from bird‑rich wetlands to forested lake shores. Most hikers complete the full loop in 10–14 days, but it’s also easy to break it into shorter weekend stages thanks to frequent public transport links and village access points.

One of the highlights along the way includes Liepnitzsee — Berliner’s favorite lake, with clear blue water and a seasonal ferry to a small island with a beergarden. Another memorable stop is Scharmützelsee near Bad Saarow, where you can take a café break with a beautiful lake view at the harbour after a long day on the trail.

The 66-Lakes Hike circles Berlin through forests, wetlands and clear-water lakes — a long-distance trail for hikers who want nature without leaving the region.
